Giving Tuesday
We just spent time with families, friends and loved ones - we’re feeling thankful! But we also know that we are lucky. Lucky that we have the luxuries and opportunities provided to us that we may take for granted. The simple things like access to clean water. Nows our chance to turn our attention to those in need, those who we can help. This Giving Tuesday, we are teaming up with our friends at With My Own 2 Hands, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating sustainable water access in East Africa.
The Global Water Crisis
In East Africa, the water crisis is a daily struggle. Women and children spend 40 billion hours each year walking to collect water that’s unsafe to drink. This lack of clean water leads to preventable diseases, missed school days and limited opportunities for economic growth. Access to clean water is more than just a basic need, it’s a foundation for health, education and opportunity. In total, the global water crisis affects 2.2 billion.
The Impact of WMO2H
Since its founding, WMO2H has provided over 160,000 people across 65 communities with clean water through projects like rainwater harvesting, well restorations and community based filtration solutions. Their work not only delivers life-saving clean water but also empowers communities to create microenterprises with their newfound water supplies, that each can generate up to $9,500 per year. A little goes a long way with this great organization and the impact they are having throughout East Africa.
How melin is Supporting
This Giving Tuesday, we are on a mission to help provide lifetime access to clean water and create microenterprises for 100 people by funding projects through WMO2H. Proceeds from every hat sold on melin.com will contribute to expanding access to clean water, bringing hope and health to communities in need. On top of proceeds from melin.com, if you stop by any of our CEL locations, you have the opportunity to win a shopping spree by donating directly to With My Own 2 Hands directly from our CELs.
